ARAI has embarked upon a program of building up human resources by commencing educational program in collaboration with Vellore Institute of Technology University (VITU) since 2004. Considering the response from Automotive Industries, the batch size was increased to 50 and some new courses were added in collaboration with other universities as follows:

The first year of study is at respective universities and the second is at ARAI, Pune. The purpose of this program is to create a new breed of under-graduate and post graduate engineers with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge to meet the needs of modern automotive engineering.
These students are placed in various companies like ARAI, Ashok Leyland, Mercedes-Benz R & D India, Bosch Chassis Systems, Cummins, MAN Trucks, Eaton, Eicher Tractors, Emitec, Escorts, Force Motors, GE Transport, General Motors, Global Automotive, Greaves, Hero Honda, Hindustan Motors, IFB, International Tractors, John Deere, Lombardini-Kohler, KPIT Cummins, L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Mahindra 2 Wheelers, Maruti Suzuki Ind. Ltd., Minda, NATRIP/iCAT, Piaggio, Pricol Technologies, Rane Engine Valves, Renault Nissan Tech. Dev. Centre, Romax, SAME Deutz Fahr, Tata Johnson Controls, Tata Motors Ltd., TCS, TVS Motors, Walker Exhaust, etc.
The new batch of about 200 students joins ARAI every year in the month of June for their final year.
