India is now at the forefront in Automotive Technology & Education. In coming years, Indian automotive and component industry will be required to design automotive systems and components with proper techniques and analysis. For this, it is expected that millions of quality automotive engineers would be required.
ARAI has embarked upon a programme of building human resources by commencing educational program in collaboration with Vellore Institute of Technology University (VITU) from 2004 followed by College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) and VelTech University, Chennai since 2010. The first year of study is at parent academic institutions (VITU / Vel Tech) and the second is at ARAI, Pune in case of M. Tech courses. As for CoEP, the students are at both ARAI and CoEP for both the years. For B. Tech course, the students are at VITU for initial 3 years & at ARAI, Pune for final year. The last semester includes project, to be done at a location where the student is placed. The purpose of the programs is to create a new breed of undergraduate & post graduate engineers with in depth theoretical and deep practical knowledge to meet the needs of modern automotive engineering.
The first 2 batches of 25 each completed the M. Tech program in June 2006 & 2007 respectively. In order to meet the industry demand, the batch size was increased to 50. Accordingly, ten batches of VITU M. Tech students completed their program till June 2015. Similarly, four batches of M. Tech Automotive Technology from COEP and 4 batches of M. Tech IC Engines & Automotive Electronics & Embedded Systems of VTU have since graduated. These students got placed in various companies like ARAI, Ashok Leyland, Bosch Chassis Systems, Cummins, Eaton, Eicher Tractors, Emitec, Escorts, Force Motors, GE Transport, General Motors, Greaves, Hindustan Motors, Hero Honda, ICAT, IFB, John Deere, Lombardini-Kohler, L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Merc-Benz RDI, Piaggio, Pricol Technologies, Rane Engine Valves, Renault-Nissan Tech. Dev. Centre, Romax, Same-Deutz Fahr, Tata Motors, TCS, Tata Elxsi, TVS Motors, etc.
We are grateful to all my past and present Directors at ARAI especially Mr S R Marathe and Ms Rashmi Urdhawareshe and leadership team at our Academic Partner Institutions for their encouragement and support for conducting this course and allowing us to release this Roster to the automotive industry. We owe to all the staff members, Alumni students and other colleagues for sparing their valuable time and energy towards the perfection of this course.
Also, the industry has been whole-heartedly participation in the various programmes. Employees from Cummins, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Woodward, Mahindra and Mahindra, Magna Styer, Tata Hendrickson and Eaton Technologies have been participating in our M Tech programmes specially catering to the industry professionals in the field of Automotive Engineering and Powertrain Electronics.
With an alumni strength of 1000+, over 20+ faculty members and supporting faculty from industry of over 100+, I see a bright future for ARAI Academy and a tremendous growth in our resources both in infrastructure and human resources. Undoubtedly, we will become one of the finest training institutes in the world of mobility.
